So what Cap1 is doing is illegal? The letter isn't threating in any way, it starts out - "This letter confirms your eligibility for a special Capital One Visa card designed specifically to help you repay your charged-off account with NCO Financial Systems, Inc".

I know if I sign it and turn it in it traps me into paying the $2790. I'm not going to do it. They want to open a Visa card for me and put that $2790 balance on it. BTW I am in Florida (SOL 4 years). This debt is 6 years old, actally more like 8 years but they screwed me out of 2 years by 'upping' the DLA.

I'll check the site out, and perhaps fax the letter to them, to see what they think about this sneaky little technique. I *hope* they did break a law or two.... damn I'd love to sue them!
