Hi,

I'm a "newby" here but couldn't resist a post.

I think that when they state ON BEHALF that the
debt has been most likely assigned to them
and not purchased. Either is possible though.

Or... they're total crooks and want to rip you
off.

I'd check 'em out no matter what.

As far as the date of last activity, and I'm just
making an educated (or somewhat sorta educated)
guess...

IF these guys have been assigned the debt then
I don't think it's been charged off yet. That'll
happen if and when they give up on collection or
judgement or you pay 'em.

I would think that somewhere in your original
agreement there's a statement that says something
like... "or it's assignees" which is what's called
underlying agreement.

If these guys BOUGHT the debt and there's no
underlying agreement with purchasers of the debt
then they're misrepresenting themselves.

So, there's my two cents.

The resident guru's will give you more accurate
and reliable info to be sure.

It's just helping me at this point to write some
of this stuff out.

Lots to learn.

Good luck,

-=L=-
