Yes indeed I have had problems with these scumbags in Florida. The only way to survive is to never believe them, turn everything they say around and shoot it straight back at them. These so-called collection lawyers are gutless ingnoramuses whose stock in trade is neither expertise nor ability. Instead they count on debtors' unawareness of their rights & protections and understandable fear of judicial process to work as leverage in their favor.
If the late notice was 98 June then this means that at the latest you defaulted on payment sometime in May or earlier. The collection scumbags are beyond written and open contract statutes ( 5 & 4 years, respectively). They've filed an illegal action and you are in the catbird seat. They are nothing but SXXXbirds waiting to be stepped upon with the bootheel of your defense, counteraction, and complaints.
I can recommend a good lawyer and will gladly do so via an intermediary - someone perhaps from the board whose e-mail is published and who is willing. Am at your service in any way I can be of help.

Always remember you are dealing with criminals. A good criminal lawyer can prove useful as they tend to view matters from the criminal perspective. Criminals tend to project their pathological behavior onto others, will say and do anything to gain their own ends, will blame others for their failures, will dismiss the concerns of all but themselves as they justify their conduct regardless of how vile, so long as they get their way.

By thinking like a criminal you will better discern their methods the better to thwart their larcenous designs on your wealth.

Bear in mind that no self-respecting lawyer of any ability ever willingly regresses to the level of 'Collection Attorney'. Even stereotypical 'Ambulance Chasers' enjoy far more respect among their peers. Still, Good ol' Judge Cracker will rule for them because 'you done owe dat money, boy', a judicial opinion based not upon law rather upon his friendly standing with bankers and scumbag collection agency proprietors, many of whom live in Homestead-protected vacation getaways in Florida.

As with all criminals these characters are of limited ability compensated by intuitive cunning, treachery, willingness to lie constantly. In other words, "just bright enough to be dangerous".
Trust them as you would car thieves, housebreakers, Green Mojave Rattlesnakes, and other creatures of similar character.

And lemme know 'bout dat lawyer referal.

Con Vivace,
