I recently received my credit report in which I found a credit card account with "First Select" that was supposedly opened 12/99. I have never had an account with First Select. The condition of the account was stated on the report as Closed (Transferred). I also found that there was a judgement against me from them dating back to 7/00 . I also received an ambiguous letter from Stewart & Associated, P.C. --or--Credigy Receivables Inc: this was unclear. I'm not sure who was responsible for the letter. Either way, this was regarding First Select (as stated in the letter). The letter stated that Stewart & Associates was representing Credigy Receivables who had intern acquired a First Select credit card portfolio and was handling the collection of debt. It stated that I had 30 days to dispute the validity of this debt (30 days that have passed already). I'm not sure what the hell is going on. I'm absolutely sure I've never had an account with "First Select". I can't even find any info online of such a company. I need to get this BS off my credit history. I've found numerous postings on this site regarding First Select, Credigy Receivables, and Stewart & Associates all of which seem very sketchy. Is this a scam?!
