Sometimes the dates are confusing I wonder if the CRAs even now what they are doing.
On experian reports they always tell you how long it will "continue on record". This is the date you should be worried about. See if it is 7 years from when Sherman bought it or 7 years from the time you actually defaulted on the credit card. Only the latter would be correct. Whatever else you do, get Sherman to verify the debt. There is a good chance, like many bad debt buyers, that they can't.
