Depends on the type of inquiry. There are 'hard' and 'soft' inquiries.

Hards are the potentially damaging ones. For example, if you apply for a dozen credit cards, go to a couple of car dealerships, apply to multiple mortgage loan brokers, and authorize all of them to pull your credit report, they are all hard and could cause lenders to think you are going a little nuts credit-wise. This also affects your FICO score.

Soft are ones like all of the promotional ones you'll see because of some lender desireous of sending you a mail credit card app, for example. Shouldn't have any impact (but as bizarre as FICO is, ya never know.)
