Call the credit agency and tell them you are only disputing the date of last activity, that this is an old debt and should be removed.

I just got ALL of my Berks Credit & Coll. crap deleted off of my report. They were putting opened in June 2000. I believe this is just the date that *they* purchased the debt. The law states that the date of the last activity is the date you quit paying the original creditor. In my case, Discover, which they are falsely claiming to be 12/97. (SAVE YOUR OLD CREDIT REPORTS!)

Berks is in trouble right now. I believe they are going out of business. They are under class action in several states, for threatening jailtime at 80+ year old people, who got their identity stolen from them through mail tampering. I honestly can't think of anything lower than that. See folks, this is what these asshole companies exist on. You still feel bad about not paying them?

But anyway, I digress. Equifax and experian removed all the Berks crap even though it wasn't quite seven years. Either they know the company's bad news or they probably didn't get any report back to them, since right now Berks probably just doesn't have the time (hehe - they got more important things to worry about, like avoiding a jail sentence)!
