The only thing that going to a CCC does for you is show everybody that looks at your credit report just how dumb you are. Unable to handle your finances, so you need to pay someone $5 a month (or whatever they charge) just to disperse your money and call the creditors and tell them how dumb the person they gave credit to is.

If you're unemployed and broke or had an emergency come up, YOU call the creditors. YOU explain to them what's going on in your life. Tell them you've been in jail, tell them anything. Get their pity. Nine times out of ten they will help you out someway or another. Perhaps they'll waive the late fees, perhaps they'll even let you skip a month or two of payments. But YOU talk to them. Stand up for yourself. Don't let the morons at the CCC get into your business. It simply just doesn't pay.
