Does anyone know if stocks are exempt from garnishing?

I almost forgot that I had some stocks that I have been buying monthly through Sharebuilder for over a year now. It's all worth just less than a thousand dollars, but could this be taken if that attorney that has a judgment against me for skipping out on my last 3 months of rent finds out about them? Should I cash in my Sharebuilder account now and just keep the money in my bedroom? I know I sound like a 90 year old woman, but lately what I've seen on here has got me worried. I feel like I should start depositing my paychecks overseas.
