Anything less is inadequate. you have to look at the meaning of verification of an account. Only CPAs or the original creditor can verify an account. Some idiot who provides an afidavit attesting to the account may as well be Peter Pan. It means NOTHING. A computer print out means NOTHING.
VERIFY (according to Webster's) "To prove to be true; To confirm; substantiate; To test the accuracy or exactness of." In the area of $$ accounts, this can only be done by CPAs, who after examination or audit of, then provide verification. In the area of engineering, an engineer would provide verfication. Get the drift.
So as I see it FDCPA requires much much more than a name of the original creditor. It clearly states verification of the amount, if disputed, is to be obtained and mailed to the consumer. After the fall of Enron and the others I believe our judges will have had enough of the 1/2 truths, when it comes to the area of accounting.
