Question re: Midland Credit Management

Have an old debt with Spiegel (date of last activity is 8/01 - amount owed $3700). Received a letter from Midland yesterday saying that they have been authorized to forward the account to an attorney authorized to practice in my state with the intent to initiate legal action to satisfy this debt. However, no decision to forward your account has been made at this time.

Last month, they sent me a settlement offer of $1800, which, of course, I just ignored.

Are they just blowing smoke or should I be worried now?

I'm in Florida, by the way - non-working housewife.
