They also can NOT just walk in and start taking anything they want to satisfy the debt ! That's where your exemptions come in. If you don't claim your exemptions, and you should be given some notice of how to do this, then they might make off with something they otherwise wouldn't be able to take. They can ONLY take NON-EXEMPT assets. If you own little, they'll likely not be able take a single thing !
