Unsecured Debt in Texas

My wife has received a letter from a CA stating that if the balance of the account is not paid in 15 days they will recommend that litigation be filed. This is for an unsecured credit card. What can happen if they do file against her? Is there any way to avoid this? Can they garnish our joint bank account? Thanks for you advice Marc
