They can sue you but probably won't be able to collect. If they get a judgment, the statue of limitations will be extended and they more than likely wait until you have something of value before they take your assets. They could probably seize your checking account.

They cannot put you in jail. Owing debt is a civil matter not a criminal matter. You won't go to jail over owing someone money.
