Debtor's prison was ABOLISHED in the late 1800's, so, NO, you cannot be put in jail for not paying your debts.

They cannot take your clothes or personal property, 99% of the time the Exemptions you have available to you will keep them from taking ANYTHING. If you don't work, they can't garnish wages. If you own no property and haven't any non-exempt assets, then there is NOTHING they can take from you.

How old is this debt, how long ago did you pay the original creditor(s) ??
