Hi, I live in Virginia. I purchased a van in June 1999 and had it repossessed in August 2000 after being 4 payments behind. My last payment was made in April 2000. Since, it has been purchased by CA on 3-28-01. The only correspondence I received from CA was letters once a month (or two months). I have never contacted the CA or discussed payment arrangements since they purchased the account, even though they offered some great deals. This account was given to a lawyer and they sent me one notice. I received court summons papers in my mail box on 9-20-03. The amount they are trying to get is 19000 dollars...I haven't paid this debt because I don't have the money to pay it...though I hate not being able to. I am presently trying to find a lawyer and gathering up all of my financial stuff for the past year. I have a home that is secured by VA (Veterans of America) and am in the US Navy. What options do I have? What can I expect from the outcome of court? Oh, I was never served either. I received the court papers in my mail box from the lawyer suing me. Is this right? Thank you.
