About 7 years ago I had a secured credit card account with Providian and never was late with payments...in the disclosure they promised to return my secured funds to me if after one year I was never late...but when the year was up, they refused to return my deposit because "my account was not due for review". I decided to close the account...so I instructed them to apply the secured funds to the account and close it. A few months later...I get a bill for "interest due on my account"?? No way am I going to pay this...so I tell them to stuff it. Well the other day I received a letter from Pressler and Pressler (attys)advising me that the debt was sold and it was placed with them for collection. I send them validation request (certified mail) and they send me computer printout showing amount due and interest accrued. What next?? Thanks.
