Not sure what to do??? Please Advise

I received a call today from a representitive at CAMCO (which I see has had a few postings about it in this board) there were calling in reference to a 10+ year old Discover account which I guess had been charged off years ago. Anyway, they offered me a settlement for about 25% of what they claimed the total debt was (forgive me, i was young at the time and cannot verify the specifics of their claims one way or another other than I did have a Discover card which I did stop paying due to the recklessness of youth).
My questions are these:
1) Is there any benefit to me, other than Karmic, to sending these folks a check? I would think that the original charge off has been moved off my credit report by nature of time passed. Am I right about this?
2) As my money problems are, knock on wood, about a decade behind me, is there anything I need to worry about with regards to my past coming back to haunt me?
3) If there are legitimate problems to be concerned with, can anyone reccomend a respectable professional service to assist me in cleaning things up and moving forward as a respectable member of society? Thanks
