getting paid charge-off deleted, can i request validation

Last year I paid a collector $247.00 on an old debt. Its hurting my score. How can i get this removed? Is there some type of validation letter I can send them? I think I contacted the cra last year and said it wasnt mine. Came back verified. I think. any advice
