You need to do a couple of things here. First, you need to send CRS (= can't remember sh*t !!) a cease and desist and limit their communications to MAIL ONLY. You also need to start TAPING these witch "Casey's" calls. This woman is violating laws right and left and needs to be slapped down. The FTC's position is if you don't tape them, how do you ever have evidence. Per FEDERAL law, it IS legal for you to tape w/o their consent as long as your intent in doing so is NOT criminal. - You need to file a complaint ASAP with your State Attorney General's office AND the AG for whatever state CRS operates out of. - You need to file a complaint with the FTC. Since this woman is blatantly violating the law, CALL the FTC and tell them exactly what you have told us here. - Look this agency up at www.acainternational.com. This is a recent tactic, but since the ACA governs collection agencies, if you file a complaint with them then they will, apparently, investigate and do something. Put your complaint in writing only, and I'd send it certified so you establish a paper trail with dates. IF you can manage it, ask these strangers that have been ILLEGALLY threatened with this woman's BS to write a brief account of what the witch said, threats made, etc. and have them state that they DO NO KNOW YOU AND NEVER HAVE. If they're willing, ask them to get it notarized as a sworn statement of fact. In this case, I'd even go so far as to send these people a self-addressed stamped envelope to return the statement to you.
Make sure, when you speak to these victims, that you let them know the threats are ILLEGAL, they are in NO danger AT ALL and that this woman even contacting them is ILLEGAL ! You need to take action. This is one of the worst things I've ever heard of ! Did these strangers have a name close to yours ? Do they live in towns where you once lived possibly ? I simply cannot fathom contacting total strangers and making ludicrous threats !! One last thing, go over to www.edcombs.com, go to the Special tab, and then contact the lawyers. I think they may be VERY interested in this. Also remember that not only can you sue the collection AGENCY, but you can sue the COLLECTOR individually.
