I did not close the account. I just paid it off. I can't stand the thought of the big balance looming--waiting for something horrible to happen that will make me unable to pay it off. I know it's a fear response, but the only debt I'm willing to carry right now is my student loans. Everything else has to go.

I'm only concerned about my score, because I'm planning to move in a few months and I want my score in tip-top shape for whatever applications I may have to file.

I have only 1 inquiry in the past 6 months and no new entries of any kind for the last year. I just want to get into the 680 area and it seems as though these unseen forces *know* that and want to stop me.

I'll wait for a while and see if the dust *settles* somehow, as LadynRed suggested. I will be absolutely gutted if this does not repair itself.
