You are not alone! Try having 2 hurricanes within a 3 month period plus a divorce, and then a parent dying!!! and having the company charge off without notice and rejecting a request for lower payment until disaster recovery came in. CITIBANK said nope, see ya. And I had been a card member for over 8 years. Quote from the customer service when I asked for a payment plan for short-term solution: "We don't care who died or what happened. You either pay in full or we send you to collection." So instead, I paid everything else and told them to go f*** themselves, I was so upset with their disregard..plus I was a mess. So they charged off. I will never do business with them again. And they have the nerve to send "pre-approved" credit apps to me now. HA! Try to rationalize with them. If they are unreasonable, keep the rest of your credit clean & up to date, and wait them out. You have 7 years from the dispute date for it to be on your report, you only have 2 to go. Screw them & hang in there. Lifes too short to let them get to you.

: My husband and I have three credit cards in the past 5 years that we closed. We have been paying and paying for that time length. Two of the credit limits were $1500.00 and the other $1800.00. The third is approx. $5000.00. We have not paid them in 5 months. We wrote them a note stated our position and that we want to settle the account in some reasonable fashion (certified letter w/return receipt)but we never heard back from them. Unfortunaley over the last years we have done our best to pay them off. But we had many problems with our daughter who was in the hospital the first two years of her life which started the debt process. I do not know how these credit card companies except people to pay them off when ever month they charge you $25 overlimit fee/$25 late fee. I do not know what to do. My husband and I are sick over this. Do we start paying again or do we just let in go and see what happens. Time is running out for us. We have tried to work things out but the companines just dont care..I hope someone out there can help. Thank you
