Can we do something about Gulf State Credit?

I, too, have found two items on my credit report that are
attributed to Gulf State Credit. When I tried to talk to
them, they were rude and uncooperative. This seems to be
the case with many other people who have posted messages
here. Gulf State Credit should be severely reprimanded at the ver
least. It appears that they just arbitrarily find an old
debt or even create something where nothing exists just
to try and collect some money. I'm sure that there are
many people out there who simply pay off the small amounts
just so they don't have to hassle with it but can you imagine
how much Gulf State is making by doing this? At what point does the FTC do something about this (i.e.
investigate and reprimand)? If we all send in complaints,
will that help?
