Judgement Against Title

I have recently tried to get a second motgage on my property, when to my surprise, I was informed that I have a judgemnt against my title for an unpaid car loan where I was the co-signer. Judgement date is 02/91, entered on title 02/00. I receive regular copies of my credit report and the judgement does not show up on the reports. What options do I have with regards to freeing up my title? Likewise, if satisfying the judgement is my only option how do I protect my credit rating?
