Credit

I have declared banckruptcy a year ago. Now I'm in the market for a used car, but no one told that everytime your credit is run it brings down your points on your credit report. Now after I found the car that I want they would not send my application to the bank unless my points were 560 or higher. Mine is only 500. What are some ways for me to bring this number up? I feel it's hard because I don't have any open accounts to make payments on to bring it up.
