Sister's ex-boyfriend charges unpaid

First off, hello and good morning. Years ago, my twin and her boyfriend were all in love and had just purchased a house. They were strapped for cash and needed a new water heater. I issued him a credit card via my account and he was able to do work around the house. I should have cancelled it, but since it was being paid and used for a good cause, it remained open. Now my sister has left him and found that he had started another family and had used the credit card and decided not to pay it off. Since he went over the limit, there are finance and fees every month. My sister is doing her best to pay it off and finally got upset enough and it's time to go to court. I don't have a clue what my rights are and if this is successful. Any help?? I'll take anything, thank you (and yes, I learned my lesson!).
