harrassment?

a collection company is hounding me 2 to 4 times a day, 6 days a week (they miss Saturday for some reason) with electronic messages followed within 5 minutes by live callers - threatening all sorts of action against me for a charge off in 1997. They call my home office and harrass other people who work with me if I am not here. the charge off was in 1997 - now the credit record has been altered to show it as an active debt as of sept 2000. What is happening. the original bill I disputed and still do.
