I applied for a credit card and received it. A friend charge a great deal of merchandise on my bill and I was unable to pay the date. I received a call from a collection agency trying to collect the debt. If I am not mistaken there is a ten year statue of limitations on collecting the debt. At the time I applied for the credit card I was a resident of Chicago, Ill. What action can the agency take seeing how it has been 16 years since I had the credit card.
