I live in a community property state, and while signing paperwork for a loan, we (my husband and I) had to sign a notice saying that this state was a community property state and that we were both to be held liable for the loan should there be changes to our marital state. Like Samantha said, you should definitely check with a lawyer...which you should have done anyway since it is an important legal proceding and only a fool would go forth without at least asking a few legal questions to a lawyer that is knowledgable to the laws governing your state.
