When will this come-off?

I have one charge-off left on my Equifax report with a DOLA of 12/1996. Should this disappear after this December? My last payment was 5/1996 so 12/2003 would be 7 years, 6 months. So should the DOLA be 12/1996 as listed on report or 5/1996? My concern is it won't come-off until 6/2004 using a DOLA of 12/1996. Last month I disputed this with Eq but it came back verified. If this is going to go away in 2 months, I don't want to bother with validating with the CA. TU and Exp are clean with scores in high 700's. Thanks for your help.
