Hello all, I need some advice on a JBC issue. Let me start from the beginning I was first contacted by JBC about 6 months ago via a phone call from a lady stating that they had 3 returned checks written by me for a total original check values of $410.00 Written out of state “ in a state I have never lived in” I told hear they where not mine and asked if she could send the copies of these checks, I then gave her my address to send them to. A few weeks had gone by and had not received any more phone calls I figured it had gone away, wrong. She called me again and said that I will be sued if arrangements are not made, once again I reminded her that these where not my checks, she said it will be up to the court to decide my fate. I do know any thing about laws and she was well spoken and seemed to to be very serious threatening with criminal charges Of theft and forgery. Out of fear I told her that I could make payments on the balance as I cannot afford a lawyer and just want it to go away. I was set up on some bi monthly payments not feeling real good about giving away money but the thought of court costs and lawyer fees just to prove I was innocent scarred me. Any way all seem ok for the first couple months of payments and now I get hit with another bill from them for $900.00 In shock I called them back and was told that is the legal penalty fees ect for all 3 checks and once again told if do not pay I will be sued. I am back a square one again. Have I given up my rights by paying on a bill that was not even mine just to avoid possible court costs? What should I do, I want to get out from under this rock, I told another rep there that it was not mine and the response was we know it is yours you admitted guilt by paying. Kim
