Do as WhyChat advised, send the scum collection agency a validation demand letter. MAKE them produce PROOF that the debt belongs to you ! Since they most likely cannot do so, they cannot sue you.

I would also try contacting this Vet's office and disputing with them as well - you may very well be able to short-circuit the CA.
