They'll descend yet lower, it's a long way to the outhouse winecellar. Avarice knows no limit, a cruel master over those who try to fill the vacancy behind their covetous eyes. The more they gain the greater the vacuum that is their inner essence, never having insight as to why their lives feel so meaningless, so empty. So putridly devoid of anything save for acquisitiveness. Self-destruction assured.

There's an old saw told round cop shops about the stupidest criminals - hard to tell with competition from 'collections professionals' - stupid as lemmings yet one day the crew pulls off a ten million dollar heist. Set for life, clean getaway guaranteed, there's always the nagging thought of that last shiny penny on the vault floor.
Stupid is as stupid does. Returns for the penny, round the corner comes the man with the badge. Never fails. One needn't hire an executioner. These morons hang themselves.
Citibank has paid out tens of millions of dollars in the past year or so, penalties you see for bank policy poisoned with avarice. Once they make mistakes, criminals are compelled to make even more. Part of them wants to be caught, put out of our misery. They'll get nailed for this as surely as you've detected the pattern, know that others have as well.

Ever the best,

Keyser Soze
