Asset Acceptance LLC validation?

I mailed two letters requesting validation to Asset Acceptance. I never received any letters from them validating a debt from 1996. They just sent me another letter requesting payment. I called them and they told me they are not allow to mail any information pertaining the account. They told me that they proved the account is legal with the Credit Agency (this does not make sense). They are still charging interest to the account as if it was the original account. They told me the account is almost ready at their legal department and that they will provide validation of the debt at court.

My question is: Shouldn't they provide documentation when requested validating the debt?

Do I have any legal option regarding this?

Thanks for your help.
