Call the court clerk and see if they'll grant you an extension. Tell them exactly that - you need more time to get all the requested documentation. I would get the exemptions list filled out and take it with you when you go to court. You should be notified at some point that you are entitled to exemptions and when you declare them. Having it ahead of time likely won't hurt you one bit. Exemptions for MI are here: http://www.thebankruptcysite.com/exemptions/michigan.htm MI exemptions are a little on the stingy side, but you may be allowed the Federal exemptions instead. Call the court clerk, they should be able to tell you that.
