I beleive minimum wages are based upon an hourly rate. If true, then, if I made below min wage, then my wages would be considered illegal.

I was wondering if because I ONLY work part-time (no jobs whatsoever to be found in NY) would I be considered living below the poverty level and be exempt from garnishment?

By the way, in NY you must earn around $175.00 per each full-time work week in order to be eligible for food stamps, etc. I think I need to write President Bush - because if you earned $175.00 or less for working full-time (35-40 hours) you would be earning less than the minimum wage. It appears that you must be earning illegal wages to be eligible.

Is there something wrong with this picture?
