CA calls for husband today. I tell them he's not home ....can I have him return the call....yada yada......When I inquire as to the nature of the call, he asks who I am. When I tell him I'm the wife he excuses himself to check with supervisor.....says he has to check and see if he can legally discuss the matter with me. Without any verification that I am indeed the wife , he explains the "problem" to me. When I ask him to tell me the name of the company he represents and their address, he excuses himself again. I end up talking to the supervisor. He reluctantly gives me the name and address. He refers to a collection letter send to my husband (which came in the mail AFTER this phone call). I ask him to tell me the DOLA on the account. He tells me 1997. My husband says it was before our son was born...3/93.

After the call, I typed in the name of the company on a search engine and was directed to a "rip-off" site. This company has 157 complaints against it on the site. One lady's complaint said that this company told her they were NOT a CA. The letter that we recieved from them in the mail has the mini-miranda on it....does this indicate that they ARE a CA? If they are, I don't see that they are listed as being licenced to operate in AZ. I checked a site bigun sent me to before.

Shall I send them a C&D letter CRRR and wait for them to contact us again and them sue them?

The name of the company is Capital Acquisition and Management Company out of Rockford, Illinois.
