How is this showing on your credit report?
Did you validate the account with the CA before you started making payments to make sure they were LEGALLY entitled to collect a ¢ ?

How old is the original debt, that is,when did you make your last payment to the ORIGINAL CREDITOR on a regular monthly account statement.

If this is a Tx collection agency, the chances are they had no legal right to collect a ¢ from you in the first place, and are threatening legal action to squeeze some $$ from you before they are put out of business.
