Get a lawyer if you can and see if you can get the exemptions. Discovery occurs after judgment. Normally that is the time you list your exempt assets.

It may not be possible to stop them from garnishing your bank accounts and yes, they will do so whenever you open up an account anywhere. They will just get a writ.

It may be that you will have to learn to live without a bank account and go to cash and carry, an old fashioned system, but one that is still needed.
