I don't mean to step on your toes with this one Greg but I to had the same problem with Camco. They told me that I owe a debt from 1991 and was told it was from a Visa Credit card and that it was over $4000. When I asked them for proof of charges or proof that I signed a contract for the card they were not able to get that information but again told me I had to pay it. Time went by and then just last night a woman called me from Camco and told me that because of the privacy act they weren't able to provide me with the information I requested and that I would have to do it. I told them that I wasn't going to do their leg work and to take me to court, but she told me that her company wasn't able to take people to court on old debt, I have no idea of what that meant. I told this woman like I told the other two men that called me a while back that I have no recollection of having this credit card and that I only had one visa at that time and I paid it off at the bank I got it from and handed them their card back. But she told me last night that it wasn't a visa but a master card. I told her that this is all strange to me because the two men I spoke with in the past told me it was a visa. This debt is 12 years old and does not appear on my credit report is the statutes of limatations up on this debt? If I am able to throw the statutes of limatations up in their face is there somewhere I can get a copy of that law? What do I tell these people if they keep calling me?
