infor on law and ca

I ca sent mt account to an a law office in okla for a old providian account , the last activity on it was 4-2001 its been to northland ca and they didnt get anything from me
now a colorado capital invest in tx has the account bought what ever they do! and they sent it to there lawyer for collections I have been making payments, and now they didn't sent me a bill for the month of nov are they going to sue me or will it cost them more to do that the amount is 3900 they have reported to my credit report, from providian , and ca put it on my credit report , I have sent them validation , nothing yet from them but have been told that they will sue me or garnish my check, but I thought i was going good by paying monthly payments and then now just stop , so what do I do now , really worried about it
