Who doesn't have proof of service, you or the court clerk? Your summons with the court stamp is your proof of service, if that's what you have.
If the clerk has no proof of service then there's no proof you've been served so what is going on here? Another Collection scumbag scam? Sounds fishy, investigate.
Why did the court clerk say that you can't deliver the answer yourself? Is the clerk scamming you? You file the answer with the clerk. Make sure the clerk date-time stamps your copy of the answer as well as the court copy. Mail a copy of your answer to the enemy lawyer. Forget about having it stamped - that's his problem. Take your time mailing it, or don't and say you did. Who cares. The enemy lawyer is messing about in your sandbox, see to it he steps on a few choice 'sand snakes' in the process. Something ain't right here. Please keep in touch.

Touchingly,

Keyser Soze
