They may try to sue, it is their right. But I seriously doubt they will if they are aware your only income is an uncollectable source.

They're not going to spend $$$ getting a judgment against you that they never stand a prayer of collecting on.

About taking houses & cars: You'll need to say what state you're in. I know in Florida, you can file a bankruptcy and both your house and car are safe. That's why a lot of people come to Florida (it's not just the year-round perfect weather).
