I really really need some help here.

a wells fargo card was charged off in january 2003....got a letter from solomon and solomon p.c. to collect...ignored letters.....i know now i should have asked for validation....the amount seemed wrong to me.....i wont get into the issues why i didnt.....anyway......in august received summons for judgement....i had literally just come home from having a c-section.....was basically recovering from this surgery.....hubby called solomon they said just pay....so he didtn respond to the summons.....thought be calling that was it....we were kind of pre-occupied with infant and toddler and my surgery....anyway.....got default judgement.....solomon is willing to settle the 6500 judgement (the acct wascharged off at 5700)..for 4400.......now i found out the collector that originally took the acct from wells fargo was eskanos and adler...they assigned it to solomon to collect....we never heard from eskanos.....so anyway is 4400 a good deal....can they come after us for the rest of the judgement? are we doing the right thing be sending 4400 to solomon?? thanks
