No they can't take any personal household goods. And yes, even if they get a judgment against you it is enforceable ONLY against a person who signed the application.

As to "settling" it is of course up to you, however it will not help your credit as a "paid" collection account is the same as an "unpaid" one on your reports.

In addition, you are almost 1/2 way through the Ca 4 year SOL,if you "settle" you will have NO chance to get the entry removed in 2 years 2 months.
