Hi, Why Chat...

I just read your post from 11-22-02 regarding the Uniform Foreign Judgment Act. The following excerpt from it follows...

"READ THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH CAREFULLY !!
A word of caution – the Act is not uniform in all states. Some states, such as New York and Connecticut, will not allow the registration of a default judgment in which case a new lawsuit must be filed to enforce the judgment.
--------------------------------
THIS MEANS IF IT WAS A NEW YORK DEFAULT JUDGMENT IT CANNOT BE ENFORCED IN ANOTHER STATE "

Here's my question: I have a New York default judgment against me. It has now been registered here in my Florida County and I have 30 days to object. The above states that a NY default judgment cannot be enforced in another state. I've read the Florida statutes and I can't really find anything that supports this information. -Can you explain it to me? Thanks!
