Many years ago I let my checking account go into the negative and the bank closed it because i made no deposits within 14 days or so. About a year later i paid the bank the fines and balance on the old account. Ever since I still can't get an account at any bank that does Check systems or whatever that is. I have since opened an account at a bank that doesn't use Checksystems and my checks are accepted without problem at stores, etc (for 2 years or more now). However, I still can't open anything at other banks, even savings acct. How to do i get that updated since i've paid the debt forever ago. Or is it some amount of time that they hold that against you? It was back in '97 or '98 this happened.
