Please bear with me as I am new at this site. I was in the hospital Mar 1996 for about 5 days, without insurance, and incurred a medical bill of 15,000. The hospital sent me some payment requests (usually in the amount of 100 to 250 dollars) for a couple of months, but stopped after awhile (before they collect the full amount). I graduated at 97 and moved. During 1997 to now, I have had many credit report run on my SSN, both for credit card and for mortgage, but the medical bill never showed up on the credit report, so i thought it is gone. Recently, i started getting collection agency phone calls. My question is: 1. What is the SOL on this medical bill? how do i find out what date i should use to calculate the sol (i am assuming it is not the date i checked into the hospital)? 2. what are my options? do i need to care since it is not on my credit report? Thank you very mucu, Tiffany.
