They were not allowed to hit your credit report period unless it is still within the seven year credit reporting period. A debt may be beyond the statue of limitations but still within the reporting limits. I think chargeoffs are seven years from date of last activity. During that seven years, a creditor or a collector may report it on your credit report as long as it falls within the statue of limitations. However, I would check very closely with the dates of chargeoff on that account to see if they reaged it. If they reaged it and reinserted it, then you would have grounds for a lawsuit. They cannot report false information and the account is not determined by who buys it but when the last payment the consumer made.

Is it beyond the credit bureaus statue of limitations for reporting it. Keep all old correspondence and all old credit reports. You will need them. This is a real nasty group.
