Dear Ladynred- when answering about -
What constitutes proper validation ? (read your answer below) did you mean they need to have both or just one or the other. I ask because. years ago I recieved a phone call from MBNA - asking if I wanted a CC with my univerisities logo on it etc..I thought it was my alumni association b/c I had just graduated. We chatted, what I thought was innocence- then I realized what the woman was upto after I gave her about what I made each year. I stated very firmly that I DO NOT WANT NOR NEED ANOTHER CREDIT CARD. I said it at least twice. Well, she mailed me a credit card with a huge limit. I ended up using it. Obviously I owe the money- but at the same time these bastard really conned me.

1 - a copy of the agreement with YOUR signature on it
AND
2- a full accounting of the entire account, from day 1, showing all charges, payments and fees, etc., to prove the total of the alleged balance owed.

You can find the reasoning behind this in the FTC Wollman opinion letter AND the Spears v. Brennan case.
